Our Founder and MD, Mr, Shriram Subramanian, along with Amrita Agarwal wrote an article in Business Today magazine. They highlight that as India scales up its climate ambitions, robust and transparent climate reporting is no longer optional. While SEBI’s BRSR framework mandates disclosures for the top 1,000 listed companies, there is growing urgency for large unlisted firms, unicorns, IPO-bound companies, and infrastructure players to follow suit. The disclosures must go beyond carbon emissions to include water and energy usage, resource efficiency, biodiversity impact, and waste management, particularly in sectors like FMCG, agriculture, textiles, and heavy industry.

They highlight that SEBI’s recent updates, like phased value-chain reporting, Green Credits, and allowing internal assessments, aim to ease compliance. However, the article cautions that effective disclosures still demand clarity, rigour, and credible data on environmental impacts. As ESG performance becomes a critical input in stakeholder decision-making, climate risk is being recognised as business risk. Transparent, strategic disclosures are now a hallmark of responsible corporate behaviour.
