Our Founder and MD, Mr. Shriram Subramanian, has shared an insightful article in Financial Express (India) addressing the need to strengthen competition in India’s power transmission sector, which is becoming a key bottleneck for scaling renewable energy.

India’s transmission build-out is lagging, with a significant share of new interstate projects being awarded to a single entity, limiting competition and slowing progress. This imbalance, along with delays in commissioning transmission lines, is leaving completed solar and wind projects waiting for connectivity, impacting energy security and investor confidence.

Mr. Shriram Subramanian explains the need to rationalise bid allocation, ensure institutional neutrality, and shift from tariff-only bidding to a quality- and cost-based model. He further notes that implementing these changes will be important for building a resilient, efficient, and competitive grid that can support India’s clean-energy goals.
